Discovery School was founded in 2004 by Shari Hendrix. Shari wanted to provide a home school away from home for children in our community. The best of both worlds combined as a professional program within a comfortable home atmosphere.
Shari graduated from Brigham Young University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Social Work. She served an internship with children in a summer camp. She took several courses in Early Childhood Development. She continues to take coursework in the field of Education.
Shari began caring for younger children as a young girl herself, at age 11, in her neighborhood. Her reputation spread quickly as someone with a gift for teaching and caring well for young children and her services continued to be in demand throughout her youth. Years later some of the children she cared for, now young adults, would approach her complimenting her as the best babysitter they ever had.
As a young adult, Shari began working in a group home for disabled children, and as a preschool teacher for a center. At age 21 she served a full time mission for her church, further enhancing her teaching and service capabilities. She continued to gain experience in various service fields, until ultimately choosing to begin her own service business, Discovery School.
